Hey everyone! My name is Jessica. I’m currently just over halfway pregnant with my third (I have a 2 and 1 year old), living in Orem, and just trying to enjoy my journey of becoming more brave!

As part of my resolutions for this year I made it a goal to get really ready each day and to wear bright lipstick more often. I’m proud to say that these are both goals I’ve actually kept at through the year! Thankfully I’ve learned a bit from my first two pregnancies that I can keep these resolutions during this pregnancy too. Below are two “maternity” holiday options, a formal and less formal option.

If I had to describe my personal style, I think it’s “couponed”-casual-comfort, with a hint of sparkle; meaning I’m a wizard at sales, I like to be comfy, and occasionally feminine haha. I’ve generally realized that I drift to the same basics over and over and I’ll never pull something off if I’m not comfortable in it. If that means I own 5 sets of dark jeans instead of branching out, so be it. Though in an effort to be a bit more trendy, I’ve decided that I will only buy a trendy item if it’s $10 or less. That does mean that I’m not buying trendy items as soon as they come out, but I’ve found waiting a few months means the price drops and I can try it out without feeling guilty if I decide I hate it. I’ve also discovered this year that lipsticks are a really effortless way to a add a fun, feminine hit which I’ve become wildly thankful for!

Scarf: H&M

Shirt: Express Portofino Shirt (I have 6 of these and no regrets)

Skirt: Target

Heels: Target

Lipstick: Mac “Danger”

This skirt is a great example of a trendy piece. I first saw it at Target over a year ago for $30, I waited 3 months, and bought it for $9. Same with the shoes; those were $11. Also, full disclosure here: Nothing I’m wearing is actually “maternity” clothes which is ironic given my love for them. I don’t think anyone needs to spend a ton of money on getting a whole new maternity wardrobe since there are a lot of non-maternity things that work while pregnant (stretchy waistbands are everybody’s hero), however; there are no rewards for not wearing maternity clothes so don’t be afraid to invest in some good, classic pieces!

Shirt: Piper & Scoot

Vest: Target

Leggings: Kohl’s

Shoes: JustFab

Watch: Target

Lipstick: Nars – Cruella (birthday freebie!)

I had my eye out for fur vest for a while, but I figured it wouldn’t be a piece I’d wear often and it is definitely a trendy item. Target had this for $5 and I was sold! Same with the shoes – I just waited for them to drop on sale. These leggings are amazing! They’re incredibly comfortable, not too tight or sheer, and they have a slight leather look to them, which is just ridiculous enough to be awesome. Buffalo print has long been a favorite of mine and I loved that this shirt has a feminine twist on the classic buffalo plaid print flannel shirt, which I for sure already have. In fact, I probably wouldn’t have bought this shirt if it weren’t for the coupon I already had for the store. And again, nothing I’m wearing is technically “maternity”. Just look for forgiving waistbands & flowy shirts in your closet and you have some non-maternity options that will work while pregnant.

Ok I LOVE the idea of trying trends when they go under $10!!! Takes away the risk and allows you to try new things without guilt. And what she said about maternity clothes is spot on – so much of what you have will already work! Invest in a few must-have maternity pieces (1-2 pairs of pants, some leggings, a dress, and a shirt or two) and you’re gold. Doesn’t she look amazing?!

Brb going to find a sequin skirt.
