Pregnancy Stock-Up

One of the very best things I did last time I was pregnant (prompted by a wise Pinterest post) was to stock up on basics and household necessities. The idea is that you can avoid HAVING to go to the store for quite a while after baby arrives. Honestly with this list I think you could get away with not stepping foot in a grocery store for a month or two – if you utilize your husband, favor offerings of friends, or even longer with online grocery ordering/pickup. It was really nice last time, but I’m even more committed to it this time, because loading two babies into a grocery store sounds pretty intense. Especially since Reese shouts “An-y! An-y!” at every appearance of candy within the store.

Between baby, mom-brain, exhaustion, feeling/looking gross, and wanting to just chill & cuddle, it’s SO NICE to not ~have to go grocery shopping. Yeah, I took Reese to walk around Target when she was a couple of weeks old, but it was for my own sanity and it wasn’t like “OMG WE’RE OUT OF TOILET PAPER AND FOOD.” And while I’m definitely gonna be using online grocery ordering as much as possible, it just makes sense to stock up on stuff I know we’ll need eventually.

Last time I went on one huge stock-up Winco trip a week or two before my due date. This time I’ve started a little earlier, and broke it down into categories, doing one per grocery trip as we approach the due date. The benefit of this is that you can begin doing this at 7-8 months, when you’re starting to nest and get antsy, but often can’t do much else. If you’re really into couponing or watching sales closely, you can also do this on the cheap by buying the stuff when it’s on crazy discount.

It helped me to make this list through several rounds, and thinking through those early days with a newborn (trying to picture them with a toddler thrown in lol). Of course you may need to add/delete items, but this is just the comprehensive list that worked really well for me! I hope it’s helpful and at least gives you a place to start! Here goes – my girl Tiffany made these printables for me in color and printer-friendly versions so enjoy!!

Online ordering and making easy lists for The Beard should mean I can wrap up the last few items on this list in the next 2 weeks without even stepping foot in a store. YAHTZEE. Come anytime now bb girl – I’ve got all the Diet Coke we need.
