I’ve been VERY vocal about my views of maternity photoshoots. Generally they are just the weirdest. If there is ever a time for a modest photoshoot THIS IS IT.
No we don’t want to see your stretchmarked, snooze button belly.
Nobody wants your husband to be creepily kissing or stroking it, thanks.
Definitely don’t understand why you’re laying down in these weird sensual poses.
Bible verses, potted plants or the ultrasound showing tiny baby junk doesn’t make any of this ok.
Still.
This really is pretty amazing, you guys. My body may be pretty unrecognizable, bloated and gross at the current time, but MAN. It’s GROWING A PERSON. Then it will be capable of FEEDING THAT PERSON.
A family friend commented that she loved seeing my regular bump pics. She said she only had one picture of her pregnant body (partially because of the narcissistic technology surge of recent years and also because the bump has become more fashionable and celebrated as of late, as well) and she wished she had taken more.
I remember what it FELT like being pregnant. I just wish I had some pictures to remember it by. I wish I could show the kids what it looked like!
That really spoke to me. This is incredible. I’ve been hanging out with her in there for 9 months now, and I’m about to hold her in my arms. Women say you miss the kicking and flutters. I don’t think I’ll miss the extra pounds. But I want to remember every last one of them – even if they were more hamburgers than Baby Holdy.
My girl Amy Allen killed it. She was super chill, quick and so laid back – it didn’t feel like a photoshoot at all! She did an amazing job of capturing the bump and the cheesy grins of genuine love on my goofy face. I didn’t need tons of shots, and yes they’re all just pretty much me holding the bump and looking excited like an idiot. Check out her work over on her blog and I can shoot you her contact info if you’re interested in getting some pictures of your own – pregnancy, family or otherwise!
So that’s it! Thursday is the due date! And if Baby Girl doesn’t make an appearance by Friday they’ll induce me, apparently? Weirdly I feel fine about it! The Beard is much more anxious and ready to meet her. I just feel content and sure that she’ll come when she’s ready, and if we have to give her a little kick on Friday that’ll be the doctor’s decision.
Until then it’s Netflix and Masters homework and snuggling with my first baby, Glen Coco. 🙂

Thanks for the shout out! You’re the best! Good luck this week! I am so excited to hear all about it.
I felt (and still kind of feel) the same way you do about maternity photoshoots, but it is really cool to look back on the fully-clothed, normal photos I did take. I can hardly wait until my little girl is older so that I can show her our “first” family pictures! ha!
You look like your mom so much in some of these pics! You look beautiful and happy. Good Luck.
Good luck this week! You look gorgeous!
