12 Outfits of Christmas Guest Post: Melly DC

Ok I LOVE the 12 Outfits of Christmas series, because I LOVE festive holiday style and planning outfits and finding inspiration. Last year it ended up being a little stressful getting EVERY SINGLE OUTFIT photographed and posted on the blog in a timely manner. Thankfully a couple of my most stylish friends teamed up to help me this year.

I’ve posted my first 5 outfits on Instagram, and I’ll have a roundup of them for you on Wednesday. Melissa is taking over today, and my girl JTuft is taking over Friday! So exciting and fun! Join us on Instagram with our #12OutfitsofChristmas for holiday outfit inspiration from stylish ladies, moms, and even some of our kiddos! And now without further ado – one of my favorite people of all time – Melly!

MellyWears Hi everyone! My name is Melissa, but you can can call me Melly (actually please call me Melly. We’re friends now. I want you to, I promise).

I just moved from Salt Lake to Washington, DC in October. I work as an assistant and meeting planner at a health philanthropy organization downtown but I live in Virginia right by the Remember the Titans high school. Left side, strong side.
I just started an Instagram account called Melly Wears where I post daily pictures of my outfits. My office is business casual, with casual Fridays (can I get a halleluiah). My style is very classic and feminine. I love J. Crew, Nordstrom, and Anthropologie, but with a healthy mix of Old Navy.
Holiday Outfit
For the “12 Outfits of Christmas,” I chose this bright red sweater. Doesn’t this color just scream Christmas to you? I almost feel like you can ONLY wear it around Christmas, that’s how Christmas-y it is. I paired it with a leopard print pencil skirt, tights, and booties. I’m wearing this to work today but it would work great as a church outfit or for a holiday party.

Sweater: Gap (old, but similar here)
Skirt: J. Crew Factory (now on sale here)
Necklace: J. Crew Factory (old, but still for sale here)
Tights: Target
Shoes: Target (here)

Thank you Melly! Idk why I’m always hesitant to pair sweaters with pencil skirts, but this is making me want to try it again because it looks so good here. And y’all know I love a good animal print mixed in. Isn’t she the cutest? Make sure you follow her outfit insta for outfit inspiration and general motivation to wear killer lipstick. She’s the best.
