Spring To-Dos and Pinspiration

spring10

Fall is my favorite. Summer is the universal favorite. Winter is so festive and cozy. Spring has always just been…meh.

It used to mean a lot more when I was playing softball. Spring meant muddy grass stains on white uniform pants and washing down allergy pills with yellow Gatorade in dugouts all over the state and checking the weather to see if we were going to have practice outside (yay!) or inside (ugh kill me).

In college it was simply miserable. Walking to and around campus, never knowing what the appropriate clothing level was going to be that day. Gross Zoobs making out on the quad lawn. Being trapped in dungeon classrooms and offices during the best hours of the day. Boooo.

Teaching during spring was somehow worse. Spring Fever + Teen Hormones + Scantily Clad Teen Girls = Pure Torture. The kids would all insist on lunch outside, so it was either rain-soaked or sweat-soaked teen boys in every classroom during the afternoon periods. Being on PDA and Dress Code duty? No thanks. Throw in End-of-Level testing and I pretty much just wanted to drive off a cliff all spring long.

Not now, homies! This year I can actually enjoy the popcorn popping on the apricot trees on daily walks with my little chicken nugget. (She just look so big-eyed and tiny in her car/stroller seat I just can’t help myself.) I have time to bake and clean and nap and shop. I’ve been de-junking like a fiend and buying clothes, home decor and makeup to spring-charge my life! Here’s my spring to-do list and pinspiration:

spring1

+ Buy some fresh flowers on occasion, and get an idiot-proof plant for my house (suggestions?)

spring6

+ Go through closets, cabinets and drawers. Be ruthless with de-junking, and take the giant load to DI! (in process right now and it feels so good!) Organize what’s left in a helpful way, so things actually get seen and used!

spring3

+ Print-mix with florals! I love florals with graphic tees, polka dots, and stripes!

spring8

+ Keep enjoying nice outside walks, and add some good mama workouts now that I’m cleared to exercise! Finally attending a yoga last night felt amazing!

spring2

+ Give my home a little decor TLC. We need some updating, especially our bedroom! It now houses a bassinet, diaper changing station and we keep finding rogue binkies in our bed. I’m spending time on pinterest home design boards and scouring TJMaxx, Target and Ikea for new additions!

spring9

+ Flowy and light outfits, on the days I actually get out of yoga pants

spring7

+ I’ve been trying my hand at meal prepping like this ^ and it’s going pretty well! Gotta lose that baby weight and say no to popcorn for lunch. Ugh.

spring5

+ Get pumped and ready for General Conference/Easter! That means scripture study, journaling, and maybe a temple trip if we can swing it!

spring4

+ Continue loving life and being the best brand new SAHM I can possibly be!

Spring, I think I like you now.

I don’t know if I have already told you this, but you are quite possibly my favorite person I’ve ever watched become a mom. You are rocking it like nobodies business and it’s brought out this light in you that I don’t even know how to describe. I can’t wait to meet this lil babe tomorrow!

I love your list! I feel like spring does this to me too. I need to purge and change at least something. And I totally remember hating spring for those same reasons, but now I love spring because while being a SAHM, I actually get to ENJOY it while it’s here!

As for an idiot-proof plant, get a cactus! As long as it’s in a place where it can get at least half a day’s sunlight, you’re golden. And I think you feed it cactus plant food once a month or something crazy like that. We’ve had ours for a few years and it’s still alive! I’ve tried planting flowers as an FHE activity twice and they never grew… So, cacti may be your best friend.
